I’ve finished the quilt top for my own daughter. I had bought the dark blue swirly and the wizard fabrics at a quilt show before I was even married! But I knew that they were going to be for a quilt to keep! I’ve yet to fully complete a quilt that’s stayed home but this just might be the one!

It’s based on Mary’s Quick Strippie so it didn’t take long to piece. I didn’t have enough of the wizards to have more then the two strips so I had to improvise. I’ve cut pieces of the universe print and the really light fabric to be the backing. My newest machine is still at the shop so I’ll be waiting before I actually quilt it. It’d be nice to have it done by my daughter’s second birthday though!

Collecting furniture in a tiny house could never happen! Here’s a link to a dining set that might work really well in a Tiny House though: http://design-milk.com/trick-by-sakura-adachi/

With the chairs pulled in it’s a bookcase, but pull the chairs out and it’s a table and chairs. I suspect it would work well in the kitchen area as a counter surface too.

I had guests this weekend and they raved about these muffins. At this point the source I got this recipe from seems to have disappeared so I’m posting it here.

Banana Coconut Muffins
Adapted from a recipe on Epicurious (This one I think)

2/3 cup brown rice flour
1/3 cup tapioca starch
1/4 cup coconut flour
1 1/2 tsp xanthan gum
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp baking powder
2 ripe bananas, mashed (about 3/4 cup)
1/2 cup butter, melted
2/3 cup sugar
1 large egg (I use Ener-G egg replacer)
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease a regular muffin tin or mini-muffin tin and set aside.

Sift together the flours, xanthan gum, salt, and baking powder. Set aside.

In a large bowl, combine the butter, egg, bananas, sugar, vanilla, and coconut. Fold in the flour mixture until the flour is just moistened.

Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin. Bake until lightly browned, about 17 minutes for mini-muffins and 25 minutes for regular-sized muffins.

If you have a guest who is vegan I believe you’d have to do something different for the sugar. It just occurred to me that these would be yummy with real maple syrup! I’ve just whipped up a batch for an early Thanksgiving celebration my husband’s family holds. His grandparents head down to Florida this time of year so we get to celebrate twice!

Mmmmm, I hope I can keep my hands off of them before getting them to the party! When I told my daughter I was making muffins, she wanted to open the oven door to get at them! Delayed gratification is not a concept understood by toddlers!

Somewhere my mother still has a little mushroom shaped spool knitter that I loved. The image of it’s white polka dotted on red cap and white stem has stayed with me. I just found a bunch of free paper piecing patterns that may be just what I need.

This fabric isn’t even available yet, but wouldn’t it be perfect for the mushroom caps?

I also love the hedgehog thanks to a book in German about a little girl named Emilie and her hedgehog Arthur! I need to keep an eye out for other paper piecing patterns that evoke my childhood!

Someday I’ll do a better job at keeping this blog more up to date! I just ran across a blogger who posts quilt inspirations on her blog. I love that idea! I can post here anything that inspires me even if it’s not something I’ll likely get to for a while. The little girl keeps me pretty busy!

Here’s a pic of some fabrics I picked out for a Cathedral Windows quilt.

We’re still waiting for our first frost. The woods seem to protect us quite a bit because my husband can see frost in the farmer’s fields nearby on his way to work. I’ve pulled in the one pumpkin we got and the tiny squashes our garden produced. I’ll be able to plant earlier next year since the raised beds are established.

While I want to go through my inspirations folder to see what I’d like to post it looks like I’ve lost some of the pics in earlier posts! I did notice when I went to http://www.jehc.net that I ended up directly on the blog rather then the page I used to see. I wonder what happened to my gallery! It’s a good thing I keep backups!

In the SCAdian circles I frequent this style of dress tends to be called Irish. It’s frequently made with plaid fabrics as the next one I make for Mlle. C will. We’re going to an Austin family reunion soon and I have a little less then half a yard of the Austin plaid to work with. The dress pictured here is a prototype since I didn’t dare cut into the plaid without testing is since I did it on the fly!

Note to self: The skirt is a 36″ x approx 17″ rectangle. The plaid version will be shorter since I don’t have 17″ without cutting and piecing.
